Building & Maintaining Our Community
The Public Works Department is the engine that keeps Muenster running. Under the leadership of Public Works Director Gary Hacker, our team works around the clock to ensure the integrity of the city’s infrastructure. From paving roads and managing stormwater to delivering safe drinking water and collecting waste, we are dedicated to providing high-quality services that support the daily lives of our residents and businesses.
Streets & Transportation
Working closely with Street Commissioner John Bartush, this division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all city-owned thoroughfares.
Road Maintenance
We manage the repair of potholes, crack sealing, and general resurfacing to extend the life of our roadways.
Traffic Control
Installation and maintenance of street signs, stop signs, and road markings to ensure safe navigation for vehicles and pedestrians.
Stormwater & Drainage
Maintenance of culverts, ditches, and storm sewers to prevent flooding and ensure proper runoff during severe weather events.
Water Quality & Stewardship
Water Supply
Muenster draws its water from a robust network of groundwater wells tapping into the Trinity and Paleozoic aquifers. Our system utilizes 12-inch water lines in key industrial areas to support business growth.
Wastewater Treatment
Our wastewater treatment facility utilizes modern filtration and processing methods to ensure all water returned to the environment is safe and compliant with TCEQ standards.
Sanitation & Waste Management
The City coordinates residential and commercial waste collection. Sanitation policies are overseen by Sanitation Commissioner Patrick Lutkenhaus.
Residential Pickup
Curbside collection is provided weekly. Make sure bins are ready by 7 AM.
Bulk Items
Bulk trash pickup is scheduled on the last Monday of each month.
Commercial Dumpsters
Available for businesses with varied pickup schedules based on volume.
